IHN Opens Doors for Public Tours

At the Institute for Human Neuroscience (IHN), we are passionate about the work we do and about brain health. Our goal is to foster community understanding of our work and purpose. One way we achieve this is by inviting people into our facility, offering guided tours of IHN. On April 17th, we partnered with the Nebraska Science Festival to invite members of the Omaha community to tour inside IHN. They were able to see firsthand some of the most advanced, state-of-the-art equipment used in neuroscience research, and to learn about how this equipment is used. The tour, led by Dr. Julianne Matczyszyn, IHN’s scientific communications manager, provided an in-depth exploration of our cutting-edge research on the human brain. Participants of all ages gained firsthand knowledge of our use of advanced equipment and our research involving human participants. The tour addressed misconceptions and alleviated fears, while showcasing how our work translates into practical problem-solving and therapeutic treatments. These tours also give members of the community an opportunity to ask questions about neuroscience, the research we are doing, the equipment we use, and even about participating in studies. Our intention is to make neuroscience accessible and comprehensible to all interested individuals. Opening our doors and providing these tours is an exciting step towards achieving that goal. Contact Dr. Matczyszyn for more information on future tours.
